Our goal

Personalized, Compassionate Care in a Small Family Home – Northern Michigan's Peaceful Alternative

Northland AFC is a state-licensed, family-owned assisted living and adult foster care home in Vanderbilt, Michigan. We limit care to just six residents so every individual receives truly personalized, one-on-one attention.

Placing a loved one in care is never easy—we understand the worry and emotion involved. That’s why we treat every resident (and their family) like our own. Our rural, home-like setting offers peace and familiarity: watch deer and birds from the windows, enjoy hot home-cooked meals with fresh local eggs and farm-fresh meat, and build real community around the dining table.

We’re the next best thing to staying at home—without the isolation or safety concerns.

Providing Excellent Assisted Living Care Up North

I have worked at a few large-scale nursing facilities in the past. Caregivers are so busy with many clients that important details get overlooked—residents may not eat or drink enough, develop bedsores, or lose weight, leading to decline. In big facilities, meals, feeding assistance, skin checks, and hydration monitoring can slip through the cracks.

Because we are family-owned and operated with only six residents, those details and your loved one are our number one priority at Northland AFC. Nothing gets missed.
